Gl. Roskilde Amts Biavlerforenings formål er gennem møder, begynderkurser og uddannelse, udstillinger og lignende arrangementer, at virke for biavlens fremme. Aktiviteterne udspringer fra foreningens samlingssted, Skolebigården (Ringstedvej 79, Roskilde). Her møder man andre biavlere, får mulighed for udveksling af erfaringer, og kan få svar på de mange spørgsmål der melder sig, når man giver sig i kast med at holde bier i sin have. De fleste biavlere har biavl som en fritidsbeskæftigelse, der giver en tæt føling med naturens gang og et dejligt resultat i form af honning, et rent og velsmagende naturprodukt.
